Role details
Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.
Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.
As an Embedded Software Engineer (Multimedia) at Harmattan AI, you will join the R&D team to expand our Linux Board Support Package (BSP) capabilities. You will be the technical lead for CMOS and IR sensor integration, managing the entire video pipeline bring-up. This is a high-impact role that blends sophisticated "desk work" in Linux environments with hands-on "lab work" to validate next-generation hardware prototypes.
Board Support Package (BSP): Expand and maintain Linux BSP capabilities with a specific focus on video pipeline architecture.
Sensor Integration: Integrate and configure CMOS and IR camera sensors via MIPI/CSI interfaces.
Driver Development: Configure and debug existing drivers within the Linux kernel and chip manufacturer ecosystems (NXP, NVIDIA, Qualcomm).
Hardware Validation: Participate in hardware design reviews and validate new designs through schematic review and physical debugging.
Reverse Engineering: Perform deep-system reverse engineering when documentation is incomplete to ensure robust system integration.
Framework Management: Utilize V4L2 and GStreamer frameworks to achieve glitch-free, continuous video streams for downstream processing.
Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with Optical engineers for ISP tuning, Hardware teams for design reviews, and Computer Vision engineers to ensure acquisition meets algorithmic needs.
Experience: 5–10 years of senior-level experience in embedded systems, specifically focused on camera video acquisition for Linux.
Hardware Proficiency: Proven ability to work with chipsets from manufacturers such as NVIDIA, NXP, or Qualcomm.
Debugging Expertise: Advanced skills using laboratory tools, including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, to investigate memory corruption or performance latency.
Framework Knowledge: Practical experience with Video4Linux2 (V4L2) and GStreamer for video pipeline management.
Technical Rigor: A methodical investigator who is comfortable performing deep-system debugging and reverse engineering.
System Design: Experience connecting and synchronizing multiple camera modules on a single chip.
Mindset: Highly collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to translate complex hardware constraints into software requirements for multidisciplinary teams.
Commitment: 100% dedication to Harmattan AI’s mission and readiness to solve the most difficult integration challenges in the drone industry.
We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
