Job description

About Us

Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.

Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.

About the Role

As a Flight Operations Engineer, you're one of the founding field members of Harmattan's new Moroccan team, and the bridge between our R&D work and the operational field. You are the expert on how to install, operate and get the best out of our systems, and you put that expertise to work across two fronts: supporting our R&D data-acquisition and test campaigns, and deploying, operating and training end-users on the Gobi system through its acceptance and hand-over.

The role spans a spectrum from hands-on operational to engineering-oriented, and we're open to candidates across that range, tell us in your application where you sit. You'll spend much of your time in the field, running campaigns at our nearby test range and, when a mission needs wide-open airspace, at large testing areas further south. The role is based in Morocco, with occasional travel across the region and to our French and Swiss sites.

What you'll do

  • R&D test & data acquisition: Plan and run real-world campaigns to gather flight data and validate the performance, reliability and edge-case behaviour of new hardware and software releases, feeding results back to the engineering teams.

  • System deployment & operation: Install, integrate and operate our systems in the field, including the command-and-control (C2) infrastructure, ground detection sensors and RF data links, to get missions ready and running reliably.

  • Acceptance & hand-over: Support the deployment and site-acceptance of the Gobi system with the client, ensuring it is installed, operational and performing as expected.

  • Training: Deliver clear, practical training so end-users can safely and effectively operate the system, covering operation, mission planning and emergency procedures.

  • Cross-team collaboration: Work closely with the hardware, software and systems teams to support debugging and iteration based on what you see in the field.

What we're looking for

  • Confirmed multirotor and fixed-wing pilot, both line-of-sight and FPV. Competitive FPV or RC experience counts for a lot.

  • 2–5 years of experience in flight operations, flight testing or validation on aerospace or robotic systems, or embedded robotics, with a hands-on track record in assembly, integration and maintenance of these systems.

  • Solid engineering culture around flight dynamics, control systems, avionics and/or RF systems.

  • Comfortable operating in the field — setting up sites, deploying equipment, and troubleshooting hardware away from a workshop — and detail-oriented, with strong documentation and organizational skills.

  • Clear communicator, able to simplify complex technical concepts for training and hand-over, and to guide a team.

  • Working-level English; plus French and/or Arabic/Darija. Comfortable with a dynamic schedule involving frequent field presence and occasional regional and European travel.

  • Bonus: pilot certification; experience with military or industrial drone platforms; a valid driving licence.

We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
