Job description
Scope:
D-Fend Solutions is a successful, fast-growing, startup located in Ra’anana. We are looking for an experienced system engineer to participate and lead the development of a cellular-based drone detection and mitigation system as part of the company products.
The system engineer position requires the combination of several elements:
- Lead features and platforms from ideas to releases.
- System architecture & design - Architect robust, distributed network monitoring systems capable of handling massive scale, high throughput, and the continuous ingestion of telecommunications data.
- Communicate directly with Tier-1 telecommunications carriers to design, deploy, and integrate scalable monitoring solutions seamlessly into their live, complex operational environments.
- Direct and mentor a research and development group (back-end, front-end, researchers, dev-ops).
- Oversee end-to-end project execution, planning and managing resources.
- Core network expertise - Deep understanding of LTE and 5G Core network topologies
- Analyze and define complex system behaviors, state machines, algorithms, and event-response logic
- Perform independent, hands-on debugging and optimization for system problem-solving.
- Gain a deep understanding of the system to guide and support development, testing and validation teams.
Requirements
- B.Sc/M.Sc degree in Computer Science or similar background from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience and familiarity with LTE and 5G Core network architectures and network monitoring paradigms.
- Demonstrated history of working directly with or for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs/carriers)
- Hands-on experience in a scripting language, like Python or JavaScript.
- Team player with excellent communication skills, ability to lead tasks within the company and the desire to take on diverse challenges.
- Deep, working knowledge of 5G and LTE protocols, with an understanding of how to trace, parse, and analyze these protocols across network interfaces.
- Proven track record in system design and architecture specifically for complex, large-scale, distributed software systems and Big Data platforms.
- Demonstrated experience successfully leading, scaling, and managing software or systems development groups.
- Advantage: Strong analytical foundation with expertise in developing algorithms for massive data processing. Familiarity with high-throughput streaming and data processing architectures.
- Advantage: Experience with cloud-native architectures, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
