The Role
Mach Energetics is seeking a Structural Engineer focused on design and stress analysis for next-generation aerospace and defense systems. In this role, you will support the conceptual and preliminary structural development of high-performance vehicles and energetic platforms by driving structural layouts, FEM modeling, load path development, and structural trade studies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop structural layouts and aeromechanical architectures for advanced aerospace and defense platforms.
Perform structural and mechanical analysis including load path development, stress analysis, vibration assessments, and structural sizing.
Build and analyze FEM models including mesh generation, boundary conditions, load cases, and design trade studies.
Support integration of aerodynamic, propulsion, and structural systems to ensure performance and structural integrity.
Evaluate metallic and composite structures under static, dynamic, and thermal loading environments.
Perform trade studies focused on stiffness, strength, mass optimization, manufacturability, and system integration.
Collaborate closely with propulsion, flight sciences, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams throughout vehicle development.
Participate in technical design reviews and communicate structural risks, margins, and performance assessments.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
2–5+ years of experience in aerospace structural design and stress analysis.
Experience with FEM modeling and structural analysis tools for aerospace applications.
Strong understanding of structural mechanics, stress analysis, load paths, and material behavior.
Experience supporting aerospace conceptual or preliminary design efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with FEMAP, NASTRAN, or similar structural analysis software.
Experience with missile, UAS, propulsion, or high-speed aerospace systems.
Familiarity with metallic and composite aerospace structures.
Experience working in fast-paced startup or rapid hardware development environments.
