About The Role
Zipline’s communications team shapes and shares the company’s story and impact. We develop and implement strategies and tactics to educate our target audiences about Zipline, tell stories that raise awareness about what we’re doing and the impact that we’re having, increase acceptance of and excitement for our system, and cultivate ambassadors. We are passionate storytellers and make complex topics simple and understandable.
Zipline is in the middle of massively expanding in the U.S. and will be delivering food, medicine, retail items and more directly to people’s homes in many states over the next few years. We are seeking a Social Media Manager + Strategist to own and evolve our social media presence end-to-end – from strategy and content planning to publishing, community engagement and performance. You’ll serve on the front line of our brand online to build our community and our following.
This is a highly cross-functional and high-impact role. You’ll define how Zipline shows up across social platforms, build and execute a cohesive strategy, and drive day-to-day execution. You’ll shape not just what we say, but how we show up—growing awareness, engagement, and advocacy at scale, building trust and brand love, and helping foster an informed, enthusiastic, and supportive community for Zipline.
You’ll be equal parts strategist and operator: comfortable setting direction and also jumping into real-time moments, writing posts, engaging with audiences, and guiding content creation. You should be deeply plugged into internet culture, have sharp creative instincts, excellent judgment, good taste, and a clear understanding of how to build and grow a modern social presence. You’ll thrive in this role if you are calm under pressure, are sharp and witty with language, are a hard worker, run towards fires not away from them, and energized by engaging directly with people at scale. Your work will play a critical role in building and defending Zipline’s reputation, growing our audience, and cultivating a passionate community around our mission. By doing that, you’ll help millions of people save time and get access to faster, more convenient and more affordable delivery that’s better for the environment. This is an in-person role based in South San Francisco, with up to 20% travel.
