Job description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Geospatial Analyst - Calibration Specialist in United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced geospatial professional to work on advanced LiDAR calibration and remote sensing projects supporting major state and federal initiatives across the United States. In this role, you will contribute to high-impact geospatial programs by processing, calibrating, and validating complex airborne, mobile, and terrestrial LiDAR datasets. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a technology-driven environment focused on innovation, precision, and technical excellence. The position offers exposure to cutting-edge geospatial tools, large-scale mapping projects, and evolving remote sensing technologies. Ideal candidates are analytical problem-solvers with strong expertise in LiDAR processing, QA/QC methodologies, and spatial data accuracy. Remote work may be considered for highly experienced professionals, offering flexibility alongside meaningful technical challenges and career growth opportunities.

Accountabilities

    • Perform LiDAR swath calibration, alignment adjustments, and registration activities for airborne, mobile, UAV, and terrestrial datasets.
    • Process and extract LiDAR data from raw formats using industry-standard software platforms and sensor-specific processing tools.
    • Conduct trajectory processing and support aerial acquisition workflows, GPS survey integration, and bathymetric calibration activities.
    • Execute detailed QA/QC reviews to validate point density, spatial distribution, classification accuracy, and overall dataset completeness.
    • Identify and troubleshoot noise, overlap issues, gaps, and vertical/horizontal accuracy discrepancies within point cloud datasets.
    • Develop digital mapping and remote sensing products using GIS and LiDAR software platforms.
    • Create scripts, macros, models, and automation tools to improve processing efficiency and workflow consistency.
    • Maintain technical documentation, prepare reports, and communicate QA/QC findings to project managers and technical stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and geospatial teams to support project delivery and technical innovation.
    • Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, or a related field.
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS, LiDAR processing, or remote sensing environments.
      • Strong expertise in LiDAR calibration, swath alignment, elevation model processing, and point cloud manipulation.
      • Hands-on experience with industry tools such as TerraSolid products, Bayesmap StripAlign, RiProcess, Optech LMS, CARIS, or GeoCue platforms.
      • Familiarity with airborne trajectory processing software such as Applanix PosPac MMS or NovAtel Inertial Explorer.
      • Strong understanding of aerial acquisition processes, GPS ground surveys, and geospatial accuracy standards.
      • Proficiency with ESRI software suites and Terrascan; experience with PLTS toolkit is a plus.
      • Experience creating scripts, models, or automation tools within GIS or LiDAR processing environments.
      • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access.
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within fast-paced, multidisciplinary project teams.
      • Benefits:

        • Flexible work arrangements, including remote opportunities based on experience.
        • Opportunity to work on innovative geospatial and remote sensing projects for state and federal clients nationwide.
        • Exposure to advanced LiDAR technologies, aerial mapping systems, and industry-leading software platforms.
        • Collaborative and multidisciplinary professional environment focused on innovation and technical excellence.
        • Strong opportunities for career growth, mentorship, and continuous learning.
        • Inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, integrity, and professional development.
        • Competitive compensation package and comprehensive employee benefits.
        • Access to large-scale, technically challenging projects with meaningful real-world impact.
