Job description

We're Hiring: RF Digital Signal Processing Engineer

Full-Time | Core Team

LAT Aerospace | Defence

LAT Aerospace is developing next-generation aerospace systems from first principles. This includes a hybrid electric aircraft that takes off and lands within a space of a parking lot, Defence systems built from ground up and scalable Gas Turbine Engines.

Under the Defence program – we're building next-generation RF sensing - persistent, all-weather detection and tracking, fielded in months, not years. The challenge belongs to signal processing: pulling small, slow targets out of clutter, in real time, on deployable hardware. You'll own the chain from digitized samples to confirmed tracks, prototyping on SDRs so an idea goes from model to over-the-air in days. Because our architecture is software-defined, every improvement you make ships as capability.

What you'll do

  • Own the radar signal processing chain end to end: dechirp, Range-Doppler, detection, angle estimation, track formation.

  • Take algorithms from SDR prototype to real-time implementation with the FPGA/embedded team.

  • Design detection pipelines for small, low-RCS targets - CFAR, clutter suppression, false-alarm management.

  • Develop beamforming, angle estimation, and channel calibration for multi-channel receive arrays.

  • Build target classification (micro-Doppler, drone/bird/clutter) and multi-target tracking.

  • Plan and execute field data collection; iterate against real-world clutter and ground truth.

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on radar signal processing - your algorithms must have run against real sensor data, not simulation alone.

  • Proven SDR experience (USRP/Ettus, RFSoC, BladeRF, PlutoSDR-class), model to over-the-air demo.

  • Strong FMCW processing: dechirp/stretch, Range-Doppler, waveform parameter design.

  • Detection and clutter: CFAR, Pd/Pfa, MTI/clutter suppression; array processing and beamforming.

  • Target tracking fundamentals: Kalman filtering, data association, track management.

  • Strong MATLAB/Python for algorithms; C/C++ for real-time; delivery to FPGA/SoC/DSP/GPU targets.

  • Eager to learn - treats "I haven't done this before" as a starting point, not a boundary.

Why LAT?

  • No hierarchy beyond strength of ideas.

  • Rapid hardware iteration culture.

  • Opportunity to build next-generation aerospace technology from the ground up.

Role context

This RF Digital Signal Processing Engineer role at Lat sits in the engineering track within defense and autonomy. The position is tied to Bangalore, India and is posted earlier in the current hiring cycle, which signals active hiring intent rather than archived demand.
