Role details

Job description

About Us

We are an international defense company, rapidly expanding to support the Ukrainian national needs with advanced drone technology. We operate in a highly flexible environment where agility, adaptability, and a hands-on approach are critical for success.

About the Role

We’re hiring our first Product Designer to own the end-to-end design of the human interfaces for unmanned systems with both physical and digital human interfaces.

This is a foundational role with broad scope. You’ll design intuitive, high-quality software interfaces while accounting for the realities of interacting with physical devices.

While your long-term scope will span the full product experience, your immediate focus will be on specific initiatives—primarily software interfaces and feature-level design. Over time, as the team grows, this role will evolve toward deeper ownership of specific product areas or systems.

What You’ll Do

End-to-End Product Design

  • Own the full design lifecycle: discovery → flows → wireframes → prototypes → high-fidelity UI

  • Translate product, technical, and hardware constraints into clear, usable interfaces

  • Design for both immediate feature delivery and long-term product coherence

Interface & Interaction Design

  • Design and iterate on interfaces and workflows

  • Create intuitive interaction models for complex or technical use cases

  • Ensure high-quality visual and interaction design across shipped features

User & Field Research

  • Spend time in the field and in direct contact with operators to build deep user empathy, observe how systems are actually used, and pressure-test design hypotheses in realworld conditions

  • Run discovery, usability testing, and feedback synthesis, and translate findings into design decisions

Foundational Design Work

  • Establish early design systems, patterns, and standards

  • Contribute to defining UX principles across physical + digital interactions

  • Identify gaps in the end-to-end experience and proactively improve them

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Hardware teams

  • Participate in product and system design

  • Incorporate user feedback, data, and technical constraints into decisions

What We’re Looking For

Core Experience

  • 3–6+ years in product design / UI/UX design

  • Experience owning end-to-end design for shipped products

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating:

    • UX problem-solving and structured thinking

    • High-quality UI execution

    • Ability to simplify complex workflows

Systems & Constraint Thinking

  • Ability to design for stateful systems, not just static screens

  • Experience (or strong aptitude) for working with:

    • Hardware-integrated products, OR

    • Complex, real-world, constraint-heavy systems

  • Can clearly articulate trade-offs and design decisions

Execution + Adaptability

  • Comfortable operating as a solo / first designer

  • Able to balance speed vs quality in ambiguous environments

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with hardware-integrated, IoT, or connected products

  • Familiarity with designing for unreliable networks or asynchronous systems

  • Experience building or scaling design systems

  • Strong technical literacy — able to understand engineering constraints (frontend, system behavior, device interactions) and design within them

What Success Looks Like

  • You deliver intuitive, production-ready interfaces that work reliably with real-world hardware constraints

  • You design experiences that handle edge cases, failures, and system states gracefully

  • You establish a coherent UX foundation across software and device interactions

  • You enable the team to ship quickly without compromising usability or clarity

What We Value

  • Experience designing beyond the “happy path”

  • Ability to think in flows, states, and system behavior

  • Comfort working on products where UX is tightly coupled with technical constraints

We Offer

  • Full-time position & official employment

  • Competitive salary (determined individually based on experience and interview results.)

  • Paid vacation and sick leave according to Ukrainian legislation

  • Medical insurance

  • Hybrid format

  • Reservation from mobilization

  • Friendly and people-oriented team culture

  • Have opportunities to work on an innovative and impactful product
