The MES Manager I is responsible for leading the deployment, execution, and continuous improvement of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) within a defined production scope. This role ensures that digital workflows accurately represent physical manufacturing processes and enable efficient, high-quality production.
This role manages MES personnel, supports production operations, and drives alignment between manufacturing, engineering, and IT to ensure successful MES adoption and performance.
This role involves working closely with manufacturing managers, various engineering disciplines, production staff, and operations teams to support expected outcomes.
Scope & Ownership
· Own MES execution for a site, program group, or major value stream
· Lead a team of MES Specialists and Technical Writers
· Accountable for MES performance in production (uptime, usability, adoption)
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Execution
· Ensure MES supports daily production needs without disruption
· Prioritize and resolve MES issues impacting throughput, quality, or schedule
· Maintain strong alignment with Production leadership
Team Leadership
· Lead, develop, and scale MES Specialists and Technical Writers
· Define roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
· Build team capability to support production growth
System Deployment & Adoption
· Oversee MES rollout across production lines
· Ensure workflows are accurate, usable, and adopted by production teams
· Drive consistency across lines within assigned scope
Cross-Functional Alignment
· Partner with:
o Manufacturing Engineering (process definition)
o Production (execution needs)
o IT (infrastructure and integration)
· Ensure MES solutions align with operational goals
Continuous Improvement
· Identify gaps between MES workflows and real production execution
· Drive improvements in efficiency, usability, and data accuracy
· Support standardization of digital processes
Qualifications:
· 6–10+ years in manufacturing, MES, or digital manufacturing roles
· 2–4+ years of leadership experience
· Strong understanding of production workflows and manufacturing operations
· Experience deploying or supporting MES in a production environment
· Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills
